Pashinyan intends to appoint his associate as the manager of the Electric Networks of Armenia

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan plans to appoint the head of the State Control Service Romanos Petrosyan as the acting head of the Electric Networks of Armenia company. This was reported by the online publication armlur.am , citing informed sources.

According to the publication, Pashinyan called “absolute reliability” the key requirement for the candidate, given the need to manage a team of 6.8 thousand employees. The appointment is related to the current status of the company, which belongs to businessman Samvel Karapetyan .

On July 8, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan approved amendments to laws allowing the nationalization of the Electric Networks of Armenia company.

On the night of June 18, Russian billionaire of Armenian origin, president of the Tashir Group of Companies Samvel Karapetyan was detained in Armenia . Before that, he spoke out in support of the Armenian Apostolic Church after attacks by the Armenian authorities, which caused discontent among the country’s Prime Minister Pashinyan, who threatened Karapetyan with political reprisals on social networks.

On June 17, Karapetyan publicly stood up for the clergy and promised to “intervene in the campaign against the church in his own way.” The businessman told journalists: “One small group, forgetting the history of Armenia, the history of the Armenian church, which goes back thousands of years, launched attacks on the Armenian church and the people. Since I have always been close to the Armenian church and the people, I will take direct part.”
